When do I need a Plumbing Industry Compliance Certificate for Sprinkler works?
Just a little while ago, I received an email from a customer (Greg) who asked an important question about when a Plumbing Industry Compliance Certificate is required for Sprinkler works... Here is my answer...
Russ,
Can you please advise on a PICC Certificate when sprinkler heads or other sprinkler works are conducted.
Please advise if the above is as per the standard requirements? & a rough estimate cost please.
Kind Regards,
Greg
Thanks for your question Greg,
I think you are referring to the new Plumbing Industry Compliance Certificate (PICC) which was made a requirement by Victorian Regulation (Law) late last year...
Check out the blog article on our web site from November 2009... http://bit.ly/aQCJ0l
Essentially the changes in Victorian Law now require all plumbing work to be conducted by Registered plumbers...
All plumbing work over $750.00 now requires a compliance certificate which costs $28.50 each. (The article on our web site discusses the definition of plumbing work)...
Technically the inspection and testing of a fire sprinkler system (if the value of the tests carried out throughout the contract exceeds $750.00) now requires a certificate... This has not yet been tested by us or anyone else that I am aware of yet...
Rod Buncle in our office is working on behalf of the Fire Protection Association to clarify the wide array of issues that the change in legislation has created... Unfortunately there are more questions at this point than there are answers!
Hope this helps!
Russ
