The Royal Melbourne Hospital is situated on Flemington Road, Parkville and is the premier public hospital in Melbourne. The site includes a number of buildings used for health care, research and administration functions.

Firewize provides comprehensive fire protection maintenance services for Fire Alarm Systems, Fire Sprinkler Systems, Portable Fire Extinguishers, Fire Hydrants, Fire Hose Reels, Special Hazards, Air-Conditioning Fire Mode Testing and associated services.

Prior to the commencement of this relationship, Firewize invested over 500 hours documenting the fire safety systems and equipment throughout the health care network. Our Contract manager, coordinated this comprehensive and structured review. The data collected included a documented 500+ point audit of each building, listing the makes, models, condition and other related intellectual property.

In addition to the comprehensive audit, Firewize also compiled an image library of each major component of the fire safety systems. This image library was then published online for ready access to the on-site engineering department and other authorised personnel.

As part of our review, Firewize also assisted with the implementation of a new asset location and identification system where drawings of the entire hospital were prepared with a grid reference. This reference is then used to document the location of each asset in a uniform manner.

Firewize also carries out routine inspection & testing of the fire safety systems, including weekly, monthly, quarterly, 6-monthly, annual and 3-yearly inspections. Scheduling for each service is based on historical records and client specific criteria.

Melbourne Health also requires 1-hour response for the rectification of faults and other minor works. To facilitate this requirement, Firewize established an 'On-Site' office staffed by dedicated personnel. This enables us to address issues quickly, with staff familiar with the equipment, systems and needs of the on site engineering department.

Because our team are on-site, Firewize can fix most small problems, identified during regular servicing while on site. Equipment is then repaired quickly, keeping down time to a minimum.
