Product Info: Simplex photoelectric smoke detectors and sensors manufactured from July 2004 to December 2005. Photoelectric smoke detectors - 4098-9601 and 4098-9601EA. TrueAlarm analogue photoelectric sensor 4098-9714EA. TrueAlarm analogue multi-sensor 4098-9754EA. TrueAlarm duct housing 4098-9755EA - Note that the duct housing itself is not affected, but the photoelectric sensor (4098-9714EA) contained within might be.
Defect Details: The issue resulted from circuit board cleanliness during the manufacturing process. Residual contamination from a soldering process was not fully removed during a cleaning process. This contamination can potentially lower the sensitivity of the device to detect smoke under both high heat and high humidity conditions.
Consumer action: The local Simplex branch office will be contacting its customers to set up an appointment to carry out the verification program.
