11 Steps for Fire & Essential Safety Measures Compliance
Recently, I was asked to provide a talk to nursing home and aged care operators in Victoria. The presentation was titled 11 Steps for Fire & Essential Safety Measures Compliance which is based on a structured program we implement for property owners.
A copy of the presentation can be seen below, including each of the 11 steps.
Before you follow this presentation you should be aware of a couple of important definitions;
- Fire & Essential Safety Measures
- Fire & Essential Safety Measures means any measure (including an item of equipment, form of construction or safety strategy) required to ensure the safety of the persons using the building. BCA 2009
- Compliance
- The Building Owner has the legal obligation (responsibility) to maintain fire and essential safety measures in a state in which they can fulfil their intended purpose. Building Regulation 2006 r1205 & r1214
These 11 steps have been rolled out now to dozens of nursing home and aged care operators, clearing up much of the mystery surrounding this process.
Hopefully it might also help you. If however you have any questions, please feel free to give us a telephone call on 1300 30 88 22.
